The Crew

Lucas Tauil de Freitas is Santa Paz´s Skipper.
Born in Brazil in 1973, Lucas has a Journalism major at Universidade de São Paulo -- USP. He holds a monthly column on Nautica Magazine in Brazil.

Lucas holds a Brazilian Navy Yatch Master certificate and speaks fluent, English, Spanish, Portuguese and Dutch. He can also communicate in French.
During the first two years he lived onboard with his family (2003-2005), Lucas sailed more than ten thousand miles, through the Channel Islands, North Atlantic, Biscay Bay, Gibraltar Strait, Mediterranean Sea, North Africa and Brazilian Coast. He also comanded the boat on the Trans Atlantic Crossing that brought them back home.
In 2009 Lucas left Brazil thowards the Caribbean beggining a round the world cruise.
Lucas is a passionated scuba diver, with a Padi Advanced and Nitrox Certification. He recently is also learning to surf.

Sandra Chemin was born in Brazil in 1970 and has a business major in Getulio Vargas Foundation as well as an advertising major on USP.
She was an Internet pioneer in Brazil. Sandra created one of the first interactive agencies in Brazil -- Hipermídia, later sold to WPP, where she became OgilvyInteractive´s vice president for Latin America.
Sandra is the vessel navigator and decides the roots and times of departure with the skipper.

Clara the couple eldest daughter will be eight in June 2010, she lived onboard on her early years, from one to three years old. She begun her school years on the waldorf comunnitarian school her parents founded with other parents in Paraty, the Quintal Mágico. she studied ther for four years begore moving onboard again in late 2009.
She is a pationate piano student and an incredible swimer she is also learning to sail an optimist. Clara loves handcraft work and washes the lunch dishes everyday, not so passionate though.

Julia the youngest girl will be five on July 2010, she begun her first experience aboard on December 2009 when she moved to Santa Paz on the Caribbean. Julia also attended Auintal Mágico in Paraty and is following her studies onboard on a waldorf home education system. Julia is an easy sharing very loving girl. she is passionate for her sister and loves washing the breakfast dishes and helping who ever needs it.

We like to name our selves, familinha.The family is now back onboard for a round the world cruise.
